When is the Best Time for an Outdoor Wedding in Pittsburgh?

Peak season for weddings in Pittsburgh tends to be May through October, with many venues including April as part of their peak season pricing. However, keep in mind that it can get quite chilly in April and October.

If you want a warm-weather month while trying to avoid high temperatures and humidity, then May or September might be ideal for you. July tends to be the hottest month with August falling closely behind.

Rainfall tends to be higher from May to July on average, and thunderstorms can be more likely to occur during the summer months. However, this past April showed how rain can still be high throughout the year, making it absolutely necessary to create an inclement weather plan regardless of which month you choose.

How to Plan for Inclement Weather When Planning an Outdoor Wedding in Pittsburgh

  1. Ask venues about the inclement weather plan when inquiring and touring (and be sure that the plan works with your vision before booking).

  2. Budget for the inclement weather plan. With some venues, you’ll need to rent a tent and accessories or additional venue space for the rain plan, so be sure to set this money aside up front.

  3. Prepare yourself mentally! Remember what’s most important - you marrying the love of your life! If it rains, it rains, and sometimes you get a rainbow. :)
